Questions & answers
Who must report a foreigner's stay?
The host party — the employer, inviting organisation or private host. The deadline is short, so we file the notification right after arrival.
How is a temporary permit different from permanent residence?
A temporary permit is tied to a specific basis — work, business, study or family — and is time-limited. Permanent residence is a more stable status with its own eligibility rules.
Why is fingerprinting required?
Fingerprint registration is mandatory for several categories of foreigners, including residence permit applicants. Without it, the application may be rejected.
Can my family get permits too?
Yes. Family members usually obtain permits based on the main applicant's status. Kinship documents must be apostilled and translated.
What happens if I overstay?
Fines may apply to both the foreigner and the host, and serious cases can lead to removal and an entry ban. If a deadline has passed, contact us as early as possible.
